Jailhouse Art Gallery Manager (volunteer position)

The Myrna Loy’s Jailhouse plays a vibrant role in the Helena art scene, and supports local artists of note. The Myrna Loy is looking for a volunteer who has the skills and interest to assist in the Jailhouse Gallery. Tasks include:

  • helping recruit, select, and schedule artists to exhibit at MLC; hanging selected artwork in the gallery space;
  • creating tags/posters for art shows; scheduling/organizing and hosting artist receptions;
  • working with the director and staff to implement the Myrna Loy’s mission.

Must have an interest in promoting local and regional artists, plus knowledge of and interest in contemporary regional art. With this volunteer position comes a good deal of responsibility. Applicants must understand the Gallery Manager is responsible for a critical portion of the Myrna Loy and its visual presentation to patrons. The Jailhouse Galley is almost fully booked through the 2018 calendar year. Our current (and fabulous) Gallery Manager is looking to retire from the position in 2019. Until then, she will be available to train and assist the new Manager.

Contact DD Dowden ([email protected]) to set up a phone chat to help understand more fully the obligations and expectations of this exciting volunteer position.
